LGBTIQA+ Communities

MacKillop celebrates and draws strength from diversity and respects the dignity of all people. We value an inclusive culture where lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, gender diverse, intersex and asexual people (LGBTIQA+) have the right to be safe.

At MacKillop, we welcome lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, gender diverse and intersex people at our services. We recognise the LGBTIQA+ community may experience unique challenges in accessing supports and services. In response, we pledge to provide inclusive and non-discriminatory services to LGBTIQA+ clients. We commit to developing LGBTIQ-inclusive practices across all our services and creating welcoming and inclusive environments for clients, staff, volunteers and foster carers.

MacKillop is proudly a Rainbow Tick accredited organisation. Rainbow Tick provides a benchmark for LGBTIQA+ inclusive practice. Organisations that undertake Rainbow Tick accreditation commit to continuously reviewing and improving the care they provide to the LGBTIQA+ community.

Acknowledging history

MacKillop Family Services acknowledges the grave harm and injustice suffered by LGBTIQA+ people as a result of discrimination and harmful practices conducted by organisations that failed to be inclusive and supportive of their sexuality, gender identity, and intersex status.

We express our deep sorrow for the trauma and injustices that have been experienced by so many LGBTIQA+ people and commit to respond compassionately and justly to homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and intersex erasure in communities where we work.

Have your say

MacKillop is committed to listening to the voices and experiences of people from LGBTIQA+ communities. Your feedback is extremely valuable and assists us in continuing to improve our work with the communities.

We'd love to hear from you and welcome your feedback.
