MacKillop programs serving Melton from first class health and community services centre

MacKillop Family Services is delighted to be part of an exciting new one stop shop aimed at strengthening access to vital community health, mental health and family services in Melton West.

Victoria’s Minister for Health, Jenny Mikakos, has officially opened the $21 million Melton Health and Community Services facility which will offer a range of integrated services and programs to local families most in need.

MacKillop’s Manager of Community Programs, Helen Bell, says it is exciting for MacKillop to be consolidating its commitment to Melton by moving to this first-class health and community services centre.

“We have a strong connection with Melton and many people we work with come from Melton and the surrounding area,” Ms Bell said.

Situated in one of Melbourne’s biggest growth corridors, MacKillop is committed to the region and wants to understand more about the needs of the community to deliver programs such as ChildFIRST Melton Brimbank and Integrated Family Services.

“The move to Melton West will bring healthcare and family services to the heart of the community and make it easier for people to learn about what we do and how we can support them,” Ms Bell said.

“MacKillop’s programs support families and child development along with child-focused family services which support the most vulnerable families.”

The centre will bring together services from health providers including Djerriwarrh Health Services, Melbourne Health-Midwest Area Mental Health Service, Cohealth and Odyssey House Victoria making referrals easier for clients across chronic disease prevention, early childhood intervention and mental health, and drug and alcohol services.
