Sharing the joy of Christmas

Thanks to the many schools, businesses and individuals who gave a COVID-safe donation or a voucher to our Christmas Gift Appeal this year, MacKillop staff across our programs were able to carefully select gifts that would bring joy to the children and young people in their programs.

Kiah, one of family support workers, was delighted to be able to source gifts at our gift fair for a single mother she’d just started working with, who lives in one of the North Melbourne towers that was locked down earlier this year. She has 6 kids, one of whom has recently returned to her care.

Because of the generous donations we received, this mum was provided with vouchers that meant she could buy food and toys to keep her kids happy and healthy through the holidays.

We are grateful for the overwhelming generosity of our community—including Brighton Grammar, Midfield Meats, Salesian College, Kolbe Catholic College, Mary MacKillop College SA, Glendalough Mother's Association, Ace Radio and Caulfield South Primary School— who helped bring Christmas cheer to the lives of vulnerable children.

As foster care case manager, Rose said, “If the people that made those donations had seen some of the faces of the children when they unwrapped their presents, they would know how much joy they brought”.
